They just need to be smart and call everything an act of terrorism. The story will also repeat with Chinese government, Russian governme, or any other government. So the French government used that backdoor to get what they actually want. Peaceful protests aren't illegal in Switzerland, but terrorism is. So the French government decides to "interpret" those peaceful protests as an act of terrorism. Just think about it: there was a peaceful protest in France, but the French government is smart, they know that you can't sell that as an argument if you want to actually get rid of the protesters. But the recent case is an eye opener in my opinion. The point is, that emails are encrypted and their content can't be exposed to third parties.
